Bonjour!

Welcome to this website where my French accent, Lebanese blood and Mediterranean appetite guide a bubbly kitchen in the heart of Miami, Florida.

Magic Strawberries with Orange Blossom Cream

Magic Strawberries with Orange Blossom Cream

Growing up, Kiki (mom) used to sprinkle a little bit of powdered sugar and a few drops of orange blossom water on strawberries before serving them. I think she did that to boost the strawberry flavors when they were not as ripe or fragrant as she wished. It was divine. It still is.

Since moving to Miami, I have prepared this easy fruit dessert a countless number of times. A couple hundreds? Maybe 400! I am not sure. On average I make them at least once a week and we have been in miami for almost 14 years. Do the math and send me your estimate! Hahaha
I have called these strawberries MAGIC because they simply disappear. No matter the occasion, the amount of strawberries prepared, if it’s the only sweet note after a meal or part of a birthday dessert table, serving it for kids, adults or after Sunday BBQs at our place with family and friends… they just disappear. Everyone enjoys them. Everyone.

It’s crazy simple and it’s pure magic!

Zouk suggested to upgrade the Magic Strawberries and serve them with an Orange Blossom Cream. It is like a crème Chantilly but we replaced the vanilla extract with Orange Blossom water. Ta-da!!! Marvelous.

You can of course serve the strawberries without the cream but we highly recommend it. (Cut your sugar intake and calories elsewhere!)

Serves 4 to 6

Strawberry Ingredients
2 lb (900 g) Strawberries, cleaned (and cut in half if too big)
3 Tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon orange blossom water

Strawberry Directions
Line a big serving bowl with two paper towels. Place the cleaned and sliced strawberries in the prepared bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and keep in the fridge until ready to use.

Just before serving, remove the paper towels (!!!!! and keep the strawberries in the bowl of course…) then sprinkle the strawberries with 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar and one teaspoon of orange blossom water. Mix gently and serve immediately.

(do not mix all the ingredients and serve at a later time, the strawberries will start to become mushy and watery.)

Orange Blossom Cream Ingredients
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon orange blossom water
4 tablespoons powdered sugar, sifted

Orange Blossom Cream Directions
Scale and prep the ingredients.
You will need one stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, over medium speed, whisk the heavy cream and the orange blossom water. When the consistency of the cream starts to thickens add the powdered sugar, one tablespoon at a time until you achieve a silky and smooth cream. Remove the bowl from its stand, cover with plastic wrap and reserve in the fridge until ready to use.

You can also serve the strawberries as a fruit-side to a slice of Sfouf.
